Caribbean Vybez Presents a Caribbean Party

Caribbean Vybez will bring a tropical storm to Dubai, with an event never experienced in this part of the world. They will be hosting a Caribbean party at Chi Night Club on June 16th, 2009. Carnival Costumes from Island People, Caribbean Décor done by A&A Productions, and exotic cocktails made from Angostura will be featured at the event.

Ethan Auguste Director of both A&A Productions and Caribbean Vybez tells us from Dubai that support is needed to help bring the Caribbean to the world. “The Caribbean is blessed with so many cultures, images of beauty, sun, sea, and sand. Where the island breezes and sounds of steel moves everyone together as one nation. This is our Caribbean, many islands, many cultures but one nation. Caribbean Vybez vows to share our Caribbean with the world...We want to bring the Caribbean culture over to Dubai but due to cost of Airfare it’s hard, we need support from the Government to fund various activities from Trinidad, we would love to have Kes the Band...and so much more but we can't at the moment. We are working very hard with the location to make this first Caribbean event one of Dubai’s greatest. We got MTV to be a part of the event also, Virgin Mega Stores and Time Out Dubai will be selling tickets” he stated.

“This will prove to be a very proud day for us islanders where our flags will fly high, in a place where over 100 nationalities reside, as they dance to the songs of Soca, Reggae, Calypso, Steel Pan and other island music. We are also in discussion with Virgin Mega Stores to include a Caribbean Vybez Corner which will consist of Caribbean Music, DVDS, Books and Magazines, Gift Items and more. It does not stop there, Caribbean Vybez will be offering Carnival Packages, and Vacation Packages to various islands in the Caribbean from late July this year.” Said Ethan Auguste Director of Caribbean Vybez Dubai

In November 2009, Caribbean Vybez plans to host the first Caribbean Vybez Festival and Expo. This will be a great opportunity for the Caribbean islands to showcase what makes them unique to thousands of tourists from over 120 destinations. We will feature Caribbean music, fashion, food, arts & craft, culture, and much more.”

U20s Defeated: 5-0

Trinidad and Tobago’s National Under 20 footballers would have depended on better results from their favoured European Champions’ League teams Manchester United or Arsenal last night in hopes of a mood change  after they suffered a 5-0 defeat in their warm up international with the United Arab Emirates’ Under 20 team in the second of two matches at the Al Ain Sports Complex in Al Ain.

After giving a relatively good showing in their 1-0 loss a day earlier, the Under 20s gave head coach Zoran Vranes a reminder that his bench players were not yet all that close to being as strong as the starters.

U20s Suffer Defeat

Trinidad and Tobago’s National Under 20 footballers suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to United Arab Emirates’ Under 20 team in the first of two warm up internationals in Al Ain on Tuesday, April 28th.

...The T&T team went straight into match action after two training sessions and were hoping to force a positive result against the hosts. But Zeyab Awana had different ideas and his 67th minute close range strike was enough to give the Asians the win as they too continue preparations for the 2009 FIFA Under 20 World Cup in Egypt.

T&T vs UAE in Al Ain April 28

“This is where the competition begins for a pick for Egypt”

Those were the words of National Under 20 Team head coach Zoran Vranes as he looked ahead to Tuesday’s warm up encounter against United Arab Emirates’ Under 20 team at the Al Qatara Stadium on Al Ain, UAE.

Vranes put his players through their paces in a 90 minute session at the Al Ain training facility on a well kept lush green turn even under humid conditions as the temperatures reached 35 degrees for the second consecutive day.
The game will played at Al Qatara Stadium in Al Ain, (and not Al Ain Sports Complex as previously announced) from 6pm (10 am TT time) on Tuesday and the T&T team here has received confirmation from some 50 plus T&T nationals residing in Dubai that they will be at the venue to show their support to the junior “Soca Warriors” who are preparing for the 2009 FIFA Under 20 World Cup in Egypt in September.

The remainder of the squad, eight players including head coach Zoran Vranes were scheduled in on Sunday night and the full squad will have a session on Monday evening ahead of the first of two warm up matches against United Arab Emirates’ National Under 20 team at the Al Ain Sports Complex on Tuesday at 6pm (10am TT time).

The first batch of players arrived in Dubai on Saturday night via Houston but a late mishap in the printing of visas in Port of Spain forced the second group to travel via London a day later.

The hosts will play T&T on Tuesday and also on Wednesday at the same venue as they prepare to face Honduras, South Africa and Hungary in Group F of the World Championship.

The venue for the matches here is one of the home grounds for UAE’s most successful professional Club Al Ain FC which is also one of Asia’s top rated clubs. FIFA Vice President Jack Warner is an honorary President of the club along with Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE/Ruler of Abu Dhabi."

U20s to Play 2 Matches in UAE

(Thanks for the alert Lisa M.!)

THURSDAY, 16 APRIL 2009 20:47     SHAUN FUENTES (TTFF)

Trinidad and Tobago’s National Under 20 Team will jet off to United Arab Emirates on April 25 to play that country’s National Under 20 in two warm up matches later this month. This was confirmed by the TTFF after the UAE extended the invitation. Special Adviser Jack Warner added : “We have confirmed two matches against UAE on April 28 and 29 and we have written to Nigeria, Ghana and South Korea for possible matches around those dates. We are also talking to Australia to play here in Trinidad in July.

“The Under 20 team will have a hectic schedule but it is all geared towards to ensuring they get the best preparation possible before heading to Egypt. The fact is we will have a world audience never experienced before looking on when Trinidad and Tobago takes on Egypt in the opening match of a World Cup.”

T&T U-20 team head coach Zoran Vranes said he was grateful for the upcoming matches.

“It’s an excellent opportunity for us to travel and play in that part of the world. Of  course we know there is a lot of work ahead of us but we welcome these type of matches. My position with the team remains the same because I will not give them up. But at a meeting with Russell Latapy, we exchanged very similar views as it relates to us working together with the National Senior Team. I am really looking forward to both challenges,” Vranes told TTFF Media.

Warner said he was also optimistic that the T&T U17s will come out successful in their final round campaign in Mexico next week leading to the FIFA Under 17 World Championship in Nigeria.

“I am optimistic that the Under 17s shall be the second national team to qualify for the World Cup on African soil this year and the next one will be the Soca Warriors for South Africa,” Warner said.
